Somatic Marker Theory
The Somatic Marker theory first developed by Antonio Damasi explains the relationship between our past emotional experiences and how the decisions we make are affected by them. The theory goes that when one experiences something, an emotion is related to that experience, for example, if one were to eat peanuts without knowing that he/she was allergic to them and feel nauseous afterwards, the next time that person is offered peanuts, he will most likely decline due to how he felt the last time he had some. This can also be positive as when we taste something and we enjoy it, we will be inclined to eat said food in the future.
